Build a Stripe subscription expense app for families
Using Claude Code with Stripe and code-review plugins, the author generated Checkout, webhook handling, customer portal, access control and a dashboard from one prompt. · Nov 3, 2026
- What They Did
- The author installed seven Claude Code plugins, including stripe and code-review. They wrote a CLAUDE.md, then had the agent build the project foundation first. A second prompt covered Stripe plans, Checkout, webhook sync, the customer portal, access control and the dashboard. The author tested with the Stripe CLI and a test card, then asked for a security review and fixes.
- How It Went
- The test flow worked: Google login, plan selection, test payment, then the dashboard, with webhooks returning 200. The review found 5 issues, two of them critical: one API exposed other users' data, and one had no authentication check. They were fixed.
- Worth Knowing
- Claude Code needs a Pro plan or higher ($20/month). The author built everything in Stripe test mode, and going live meant swapping keys and registering a production webhook.
Try it yourself with Claude Code
Build me an app where [families or groups] pay for a subscription to track shared expenses. Add Stripe Checkout, webhook handling, a customer portal, access control for paying users only, and a basic dashboard showing [expense categories]. Use Stripe test mode, review your own code for security issues, and stop when I can run through a test signup end to end. Pause and show me before making any live-mode change.
Do this with a skill.
