Chart Presenter Swap
Swap the speaker, never the chart.
A two-host handoff where the chart stays pinned in place while one presenter slides out and the next slides in, with the pointer gesture and a spoken bridge line carrying the swap. The chart is the constant; only the person changes.

Chart Presenter Swap
When to use
- Two hosts take turns explaining different parts of the same chart and you want the swap to feel like a handoff, not a jump cut
- One presenter covers the setup ("here's what this chart shows") and a second presenter covers the interpretation ("here's what it means")
- A guest or expert steps in beside a chart for one segment, then steps back out
- A chart stays on screen for a long stretch and a presenter change is the visual refresh that keeps it alive
- You want the audience to track who is speaking without the chart ever leaving the frame
Workflow
- Pin the chart (input: chart + layout → output: locked chart position)
Place the chart on one side of the frame (typically right two-thirds) and lock it: same position, same scale, same crop for the entire segment. The chart never moves, resizes, or re-renders during a swap. If the chart needs a highlight change, it happens before the swap or after it — never during, or the viewer loses the anchor that makes the swap readable. - Set the two presenter slots (input: presenter shots → output: matched framing)
Both presenters occupy the same slot on the opposite side of the chart, framed identically: same head height, same eye line, same distance from the chart edge. Shoot or crop both to match. If one presenter is taller in frame than the other, the swap reads as a jolt even when the motion is perfect — fix the framing first, animate second. - Animate the handoff (input: two presenter shots → output: swap transition)
The outgoing presenter slides toward the nearest frame edge and fades to 0% opacity over 0.45–0.6 s (ease-in). The incoming presenter slides in from the same edge and fades from 0% to 100% over the same window, starting 0.1 s after the outgoing presenter starts moving, so the two briefly overlap mid-frame. Both move horizontally only — no vertical drift, no scale change, no rotation. The 0.1 s overlap is what makes it feel like a handoff rather than two separate cuts. - Hand off the pointer (input: outgoing presenter's gesture → output: pointer continuity)
If the outgoing presenter is pointing at or gesturing toward the chart, the incoming presenter must pick up a gesture toward the same chart region within 0.3 s of landing. The pointer does not have to be the same hand or the same pose — it has to land in the same chart region. If the outgoing presenter was pointing at the top-left bar, the incoming presenter points at the top-left bar. A pointer that jumps to a different region silently tells the viewer the topic changed when it did not.
