What They Did
The author installed the Anki Connect add-on, which runs a local server exposing an API to Anki. He copied its overview documentation into a markdown file in his project so Claude Code knew how to use it. He then described a concept, such as a Polish declension pattern, and gave a few seed words. Claude Code generated the cards, created decks, added formatted cards and checked for duplicates. He could also ask it to explain its choices.
How It Went
The author calls the results surprisingly useful and the workflow close to hands-off. The post gives no counts or timings, and it says flashcards don't replace speaking, reading and writing practice.
Worth Knowing
Without Anki Connect you would be copying and pasting card content by hand; the docs file in the project is what let Claude Code drive Anki.
Try it yourself with Claude Code

Using AnkiConnect, create a deck called [deck name] for learning [language] and add cards for [topic, e.g. 30 common verbs or a grammar point]. Format each card with [front/back layout, e.g. word on front, translation plus example sentence on back], and check for duplicates against existing cards before adding. Show me the first 5 cards for approval before adding the rest, then report how many were added and how many were skipped.
