AI Visibility and GEO Tools, Compared Honestly
New category, new tools. As of November 2026, a handful of products help you track or improve how AI assistants talk about your brand. Here's what each one actually does, what it costs, and where our own skills fit in.
Prices and features below come from each product's public listing. Anything can change — check the source before you buy.

Elmo
What it is: An open-source AI visibility platform (MIT licensed, self-hostable). It tracks how ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and others mention, cite, and describe your brand — visibility percentages, share of voice against competitors, and sentiment scoring.
Price: Freemium, paid plans from $29/month (per its public listing).
Honest take: The strongest option if you want an always-on dashboard with competitor comparison and you prefer open source you can self-host. The trade-off is the usual platform trade-off: a subscription, and your data lives in their system unless you self-host.
AI-Primed
What it is: A free web-based audit that scans your site against eight technical checks for AI crawler readiness — firewall rules, robots.txt, JavaScript rendering, JSON-LD structured data, llms.txt presence, and similar — then generates deployable fix files.
Price: Free (per its public listing).
Honest take: A genuinely useful free checkup for the technical half of GEO. It doesn't monitor mentions or track competitors — it's a one-time diagnostic, not an ongoing platform. Run it, fix what it flags, move on.
Our two skills ($4.99 each, one-time)
We built these for people who already work inside an AI assistant and prefer a playbook over a platform subscription:
- [AI Brand Visibility Monitor](/skills/ai-visibility-monitor/) — a repeatable workflow for tracking brand mentions, share of voice, and sentiment across AI assistants. You run it on your schedule; no subscription, no dashboard, just the method.
- [AI Crawler Readiness Audit](/skills/ai-crawler-readiness-audit/) — the same eight-family technical checklist as a guided audit: robots.txt, crawler access, structured data, llms.txt, renderability. Produces a prioritized fix list.
Honest take: Skills are not platforms. There's no hosted dashboard, no automatic alerting, no historical charts unless you keep them yourself. What you get is the complete method, yours forever, for less than one month of a typical subscription. If you want "set and forget" monitoring with a UI, Elmo's paid tier is the more natural fit. If you want to understand and run the process yourself inside the AI assistant you already pay for, the skills are the cheaper route.
Which should you pick?
- "I want a dashboard that watches this for me" → Elmo (start on freemium).
- "Is my site even readable by AI crawlers?" → AI-Primed's free audit first, then our crawler audit skill if you want the guided version.
- "I want to run GEO monitoring myself, inside my AI assistant" → our two skills.
- "I want all of it" → that's a legitimate stack too: free audit for the baseline, Elmo for ongoing monitoring, skills for the hands-on work.
A note on method
We don't trash competitors — the category is new enough that honest tools help everyone. Elmo being open source is genuinely good for the space. What we compete on is format: a one-time playbook you own versus a platform you rent. Different buyers, different right answer.
