Sorbet Window Deck

Sorbet Window Deck
When to use
- You're pitching or presenting to an audience that tunes out the moment a gray corporate template appears
- Your deck is for a consumer product, a community project, a workshop, or a creative review — anything where "friendly" beats "formal"
- You need a deck that looks designed but follows one simple system your whole team can reuse
- Your slides are currently a mix of fonts, colors, and layouts inherited from three different templates
- You want slides that screenshot well — for social posts, docs, or a deck that gets forwarded
Workflow
- Find the spine (input: topic + audience + time → output: 1-sentence spine + slide list)
Write one sentence the audience should remember — that's the spine. Then list the slides as a story: problem → tension → idea → proof → what changes → ask. A 10-minute talk gets 8–10 slides; a 20-minute talk gets 12–15. If a slide doesn't move the spine forward, cut it. Sorbet colors can't save a deck with no spine, and the window system only works when every slide carries one idea. - Write the slides as headlines (input: spine + slide list → output: headline per slide)
Every slide gets one headline that IS the point, as a full sentence ("Parents spend 40 minutes a night on homework admin"), not a label ("Problem"). Supporting content is 1–3 short lines, one number, or one image — never a paragraph, never more than 6 bullets, most slides with zero bullets. Speaker notes hold the detail; the slide holds the idea. If the headline can't be a sentence, the slide's point isn't clear yet. - Apply the sorbet window system (input: headlines → output: styled slides)
The look: sorbet palette — peach, mint, lemon, berry, and a soft sky — used at pastel lightness, one flavor per slide, never two competing sorbets on the same slide. Every slide is a "window": a rounded-rectangle card (16–24px radius) floating on a slightly deeper tint of the same flavor, with a slim window bar on top (three small dots + a short title) that makes the slide read like a clean app screen. Text sits inside the window on near-white; the sorbet color lives in the frame, the window bar, and one accent element per slide. One typeface, two weights; headline 40–54px, body 20–24px. - Give each slide one window job (input: styled slides → output: finished slide set)
Vary the window contents so the deck never repeats itself: title window, big-number window, image window (one full-bleed photo inside the frame), split window (two panels comparing before/after), quote window, checklist window, closing ask window. One image per visual slide, cropped tight, no clip-art, no watermarked stock. Every slide keeps the same window radius, bar height, margins, and footer (talk title + page number) — the system is what makes a simple look feel professional. Keep at least 40% whitespace inside each window. - Rehearse and trim (input: finished slide set → output: talk-ready deck)
Read the headlines in order, out loud, with no notes: they should tell the whole story in 30 seconds. Time the talk — if you're over, cut slides, never speed up. Check contrast on the real display: pastels shift on dim projectors, so verify the window-bar text and the headline against their backgrounds. Export as PDF as a backup (fonts embedded), and keep the editable source so the next talk is a refill, not a rebuild.
