When to use

You just launched (or relaunched) your freelance portfolio site and need to announce it beyond "new website!"
You're rebranding as a freelancer and the new site is the centerpiece of the announcement
You're opening availability for new clients and want the site to do the explaining
You added a new service page — booking, shop, course — and need a short video to drive traffic to it
Your site gets visits but few inquiries, and you suspect nobody understands what you offer in the first 10 seconds

Workflow

Define the hook and the one CTA (input: site URL, one service, who it's for → output: hook line + single call to action)
One video, one job: get the right visitor to the right page. Pick the single service the video sells and the single action — "book a call", "see the portfolio", "join the waitlist". The hook names the visitor's problem, not your news: "Hiring a designer and drowning in portfolios?" beats "I launched my new site!" Every second after the hook must earn the click.
Script it (input: hook + CTA → output: 15–60 second script with timestamps)
Fixed structure: Hook (0–3s, the problem) → What the site offers (3–15s, one sentence + one screen) → Who it's for (one line, so the wrong people self-select out) → CTA (last 5s, say the URL and show it on screen). Write for the ear: short sentences, no jargon, read it aloud twice. If it sounds like a press release, rewrite it as if telling one person.
Plan the shots (input: script → output: shot list — screen capture, talking head, b-roll)
Every line gets a visual: screen recording of the site doing the thing the line describes, a talking-head clip for the hook and CTA, and short b-roll (workspace, work-in-progress) only where the screen can't carry it. Show the site early — within the first 3 seconds — because the site is the product. List each shot with its timestamp, what it shows, and how it's captured.
Style in Cobalt Serif (input: shot list + script → output: styled edit spec — serif titles, cobalt accents, captions)
Cobalt Serif rules: big serif titles for the hook and section cards, deep cobalt accent bars and lower-thirds, silver-grey body type, generous white space. Captions are mandatory — most viewers watch muted — burned in or as an SRT file, word-accurate, synced. The thumbnail uses the same system: serif headline, one site screenshot, cobalt accent.
Edit and publish (input: footage + edit spec → output: finished video + publish checklist)
Cut to the script's timestamps; if a shot runs long, trim the shot, not the script. Export two versions: vertical (9:16) for feeds and horizontal (16:9) for the site and YouTube. Publish with the link in the description/first comment/bio, the CTA repeated in the caption text, and the video pinned where new visitors will see it. Check playback on a phone before announcing — that is where most viewers meet it.
