Partnership Announcement Film

When to use

  • Two companies are announcing a partnership, integration, or joint offering and need a launch video
  • A press release exists but nobody will read it — the announcement needs a film for social, email, and the homepage
  • Both partners want to post the same video, so it must work for two audiences and two brands
  • A conference keynote or webinar needs a 60-second announcement opener
  • You need to explain "what changes for customers" before the news cycle moves on

Workflow

  1. Find the one shared story (input: partnership facts → output: story spine)
Gather the facts both sides agree on: what each company does in one line, what is actually launching, who it is for, and what changes for customers on day one. Then find the single sentence both CEOs would sign — the shared story, e.g. "Small shops can now take card payments inside the app they already use." If the two sides describe the partnership differently, that disagreement is the work: resolve it before scripting, because a film that tries to tell two stories tells none. The story spine is: the customer's problem, the joint answer, what changes on day one, one call to action.
  2. Write the 45–90 second script (input: story spine → output: narration + on-screen text)
Write 120–220 words of narration in three beats: problem (10 seconds, the customer's pain, no logos yet), joint answer (30 seconds, both brands named together, the one thing that is now possible), and what changes (20 seconds, concrete day-one facts: dates, availability, pricing if any). Write the on-screen text as a separate column — supers, lower thirds, the closing card — so the film still announces the partnership with the sound off. Read it aloud with a timer; narration runs about 150 words per minute. Cut anything that serves one partner's ego instead of the customer's understanding.
  3. Balance the brands (input: script → output: brand plan)
Decide the visual balance up front and get both sides to agree: logo lockup (both marks, equal weight, neutral ground), color (one neutral base with both brand colors used sparingly, never fighting), and screen time (roughly equal, with the customer's story getting more than either logo). Specify the logo lockup, the order of names in the narration ("A and B" in one order everywhere — pick it once), and the end card (both logos, one URL, one call to action). A partnership film with two calls to action is a film with none.
  4. Plan the shots (input: script + brand plan → output: shot list)
Build the shot list from assets that already exist: product screenshots, office or team footage, customer footage, and the two logos. For each beat, list the shot, its source, and its duration — problem beat gets human footage (a frustrated user, a busy shop), joint-answer beat gets the product working, what-changes beat gets the concrete facts as clean on-screen cards. Mark every shot that still needs to be captured (a 10-second quote from each founder, a screen recording of the integration) and schedule those first — missing founder quotes are the classic reason announcement films slip past launch day.
  5. Cut, check, and publish (input: shot list + assets → output: finished film)
Cut picture first, narration second, music last and low — music underpins, never competes with, the announcement. Check the film three ways: sound off (does the on-screen text alone announce the partnership?), sound on at phone-speaker volume (is every word intelligible?), and as each partner's audience (would a customer of A and a customer of B both understand what changes for them?). Publish with captions, a title that names both partners and the news, and a description carrying the day-one facts and the single call to action. Both partners post the same cut on the same day — one film, one message, no competing versions.
