# Not the Only Playable World

Genie 4 did not arrive into an empty field: Runway’s GWM Worlds 2 shipped a couple of months earlier as another playable world with audio, which makes Google’s ‘first’ a claim rather than an established fact. For now Genie 4 is a research preview for trusted testers with an open waitlist — no date, no price, no published benchmarks.

## Key facts

- Runway's GWM Worlds 2 arrived months earlier and also offers playable worlds with audio, per datanorth.ai — Google's 'first' is a self-description, not an established fact.
- The playable-worlds space now has more than one serious contender, which means prompt and spec skills transfer across platforms.
- Genie 4 remains a research preview limited to trusted testers, with a waitlist open to the public.
- Planned access paths named by Google: Google AI Ultra subscribers (inside Project Genie) and early Gemini API / AI Studio partners.
- No dates, prices, or published benchmarks have been announced for any of these access paths.
- For now, the practical move is to build the craft — prompts, specs, provenance — so you are ready when access lands.
