Aqua Campus Deck

When to use

  • You are presenting a university program to prospective students or their parents
  • An orientation or welcome-week deck needs to cover schedules, services, and contacts without overwhelming new students
  • A department needs a program overview for an open day, a fair, or a partner institution
  • You are pitching a campus initiative (a new course, a lab, a student service) to faculty or administrators
  • A student society needs a clear, credible deck for a funding or sponsorship request

Workflow

  1. Collect the program facts (input: program details → output: verified fact sheet)
Gather the facts the deck must state: program name, who runs it, who it is for, dates and deadlines, costs or funding, entry requirements, and contact details. Verify each one against the program's official page or handbook — a deck that tells students the wrong deadline causes real harm. Note anything still unconfirmed as "verify" and keep it off the slides until confirmed.
  2. Structure for a newcomer (input: fact sheet → output: slide outline)
Order the deck the way a newcomer thinks, not the way the department is organized: what this is, who it is for, what you will do/learn, key dates, what it costs, how to apply, who to contact. Aim for 8–12 slides, one idea per slide. Cut anything a newcomer cannot act on — internal committee names and policy history belong in an appendix, not the main flow.
  3. Set the aqua system (input: slide outline → output: color and type system)
Define a small system and hold it: a calm aqua as the accent, a deep teal or navy for headings, near-black for body text, and a light aqua tint for callout boxes and table headers. Use one sans-serif type family with two weights (regular and bold) and one size scale. Aqua marks structure — section headers, key dates, callouts — not decoration; if a slide has no aqua, that is fine.
  4. Build the slides (input: outline + system → output: full deck draft)
Lay out each slide on the same grid: headline stating the point, short bullets or a simple table, generous white space. Turn dense information into structures a newcomer can scan: dates become a timeline, steps become a numbered list, comparisons become a two-column table. Every slide ends with the one thing the reader should do or remember — if you cannot name it, the slide is not finished.
  5. Proof and package (input: deck draft → output: presentation-ready deck)
Proofread every date, fee, email address, and link by opening the source it came from — never from memory. Read the deck as a prospective student: is anything assumed ("as you know", unexplained acronyms) that a newcomer would not understand? Add speaker notes for anything a presenter should explain aloud, and export both a presentable version and a self-reading PDF with contact details on the final slide.
